Hawks!

Beer, friends, food, hockey. Does it get any better?

Mojito

There's nothing like a good mojito. I love fresh mint.

Yummy

I tried a new recipe - chicken marinated in a grapefruit / lime sauce
with a grapefruit salsa. It was yummy. I added some refried beans
with queso cheese. So good.

Rats!

I walk by this fairly frequently and always thought the animal on the
right was a bear. I realized yesterday that doesn't make sense. I
think these are two scavengers - some typeof bird and a very large
rat! I've seen rats in Chicago this big, as big as a bear!

Where did I leave my car?

Oh, right. In a drunken stupor, I left my car right on North Avenue
overnight so it could get two tickets and a boot.

I know how she feels

Often my feet don't touch the floor, either! It's especially troubling
in the rest room!

I call this

The mullet dress - business on the right, party on the left!

Ice cream!

Sure, I'll have ice cream in a helmet at the cubs game, when it's 50
degrees out, but only if it has hot fudge! What! No hot fudge?

I lied. Sometimes I eat healthy food.

Check it out - salad on the table! Along with crumbled bleu cheese and
wood plank grilled lemon garlic shrimp, after gourmet cheese and
crackers. Overall, not bad. And not too bad for me!

What pyramid?

Funny, I don't see any of my food groups on this inverted food
pyramid. Where is Kraft mac-n-cheese? Spaghettios with franks? Grilled
cheese? Pepsi? Beer? Ben and Jerry's? This pyramid is a farce.

I don't feel safer

I'm glad that Metra has bomb-sniffing dogs, but I don't feel safer.
The fact that they need bomb-sniffing dogs makes me positively nervous!

A Complaint and a confession

First, the confession: yes, I had McDonald's fish and fries for lunch.

Second, the complaint: how hard is it to place the small rectangle on
the round bun? I'd argue, not that hard!

Bingo!

I have not seen this game in 30 years! We stopped at the Willis Tower
and the store had a bunch of random junk, including automobile bingo.
I can't wait for the next road trip.

Giant check

I think this is a sign to warn drivers that there is a crosswalk for
people holding really large checks like Happy Gilmore won.

Finally

The state finally put up a new sign advising us to wash our hands.
Phew! I'm pretty sure some of my colleagues were skipping that step. I
feel safer now.

Martha mac - revised

I would be arrogant to think that I improved on Martha's recipe, but I
did like the addition of bacon and tomatoes! But really, bacon smells
great when it's cooking and tastes good in just about anything.

I hope it was a good night

I walked by this car parked on a main street and could only think, I
hope they had a good night. It's hard to tell, but the curb is pretty
steep here.

Presentation, presentation, presentation

Who cares how it tastes if it doesn't look appetizing? This is my wood
plank grilled coho salmon and garlic mashed potatoes. They were both
pretty good, despite the boring appearance.

Patent

About 9 years ago, when I first got inde, I thought there should be a
doggy pack that carried her stuff and water. I made a few sketches
then abandonned the project. I don't know how long this product has
been around, but I guess it wasn't a horrible idea.

Wood plank salmon

My first attempt at cooking salmon on a wooden plank. This is Pacific
coho salmon (rather than Atlantic salmon) in a teryaki marinade. It
was good, but not great. I think a thicker plank would be better. I'm
not giving up. Next time, a thicker steak, I think.

Secret. Shhhh

She thinks that you cannot see the two cans of beer cleverly hidden in
her kit. She is wrong.

Welcome to the family

This is LoLo. I found her on the way home from the Cubs game. Tomorrow
I will find her real home, but for tonight she is staying here. And
terrorizing Inde.
