Pine needles, in July?

We are preparing to have some work done on our second floor and had to move some furniture. In the process, we discovered these pine needles from the Christmas tree. Are you kidding me? I vacuumed and swept until I didn't think any of these were left! Apparently, I didn't do a good job.

    I think it's Jesus's way of reminding us of his birth. Oh wait, he wasn't really born on Christmas. Nevermind.
