All aboard!

On our way to Germany!!

Psych!

That big cool plane - yeah, not ours. That was the flight to Munich that had to use our gate because of some technical issue with some other flight that was at their gate. Blah blah blah. Where are those beer carts that Mayor Daley promised?

It's a spaceship!

We are just about ready to board our flight to Germany. I'm not sure, but I think it's a spaceship! Our seats are near the back, but the two seats on the side by themselves so hopefully I can sleep.

Objects in the front appear larger than they are

Finally. Through security and having lunch. I ordered the big beer to go with advil pm I plan to take on the plane to facilitate the whole sleeping on the red eye thing. I've never tried it, so wish me luck. And the caprese salad was great, even by non-airport standards.

Tie!

I was cleaning out my bag from my last long trip and found this napkin with a game of connect the dots. If I recall correctly, the game lasted quite a while, was hotly contested and ended in a draw. This time, I'll win!

Planes, trains and automobiles!

Step 1 - packing. Inde is not happy because she knows she is not going with us. She doesn't know that her good friend Lily is coming to get her tonight for the weekend and then she is having another guest staying with her for the next week. She is going to have a blast!

Wrigley Rooftops!

Some day I'd like to sit on a roof top deck. It just looks cool. And expensive.

Read slowly and carefully

At first, I read this as don't be so mad. I thought, that's a nice sentiment, but then i realized it said don't be so mayo. I thought that was about the basketball player - you might remember him - the next great thing, interested in basketball, acting, producing records, etc. He wanted to go to LA. Remind me, what happened to him?

Rick Bayless in the hizzle!

Okay, not really, but he did sponsor this "brick" in the wall at a park in my neighborhood! It is not the biggest nor the smallest sponsorship, so I guess he gets some credit. Maybe it was before his big top chef masters fame, who knows. Anyway, the park is nice and has some very cool and very safe playground apparatus. Where's the fun in that? Gone are the traditional monkey bars that caused more broken arms than you can shake a stick at?

A pro gun rally in Chicago

I found this slightly disturbing, especially because I think many of these folks live in the suburbs! No guns for me, thanks.

No more sippy cup!

This was too cute to pass up. I hope the baby who gets this doesn't have to wait 40 years for another! It looks like it might be a while after the "trades" made by the organization.

Park West

This is a blurry photo of Catie Curtis at the Park West theater. She was there to open for Mary Chapin Carpenter, who I have not seen before. Both performers were fantastic, as is the venue. Catie played for about 45 minutes and was good. I have seen her twice in a small venue that holds about 300 people. This place is considerably bigger and I thought she did a good job to fill it up. Until Mary Chapin Carpenter came on stage. Don't get me wrong, Catie was good, but she was solo (one supporting vocalist) and most of the crowd did not appear to know her music. Mary Chapin Carpenter was very good - her voice is deep and velvety smooth. She filled up the place with some extra star cred that Catie can't pull off in that crowd. She played a number of old favorites and about 6 songs off her new cd. Her supporting band was also very good - piano, bass, electric cello, steel string guitar, acoustic guitar and drums. I would definitely go see her again. And Catie, too!

Winner winner chicken dinner!

I got excited, but I think it was only $9.00. The soda was free and self-serve, however, so I felt like a winner when I got a coke.

Nuwk-u-lehr

It's George Bush energy, right here in New Buffalo.

Somewhere, over the rainbow

Quick thunderstorm, then a beautiful rainbow over the industrial wasteland that is north western Indiana.

Cleveland Indians!

Check out these seats - for $25!

I <3 80's video games

Galaga is my favorite, but I'm left handed, so I play it with my hands crossed -- right hand on the controller and left hand on the fire button.

Frozen ice

Thanks for clearing it up for me.

Pine needles, in July?

We are preparing to have some work done on our second floor and had to move some furniture. In the process, we discovered these pine needles from the Christmas tree. Are you kidding me? I vacuumed and swept until I didn't think any of these were left! Apparently, I didn't do a good job.

Barbershop cat!

I saw this cat in the window of a local barbershop. I thought he was kind of cute, but I had trouble getting a good picture of him. Then I realized this picture with Margie's in the background might be even better! If I lived across the street from Margie's, I shutter to think...
