I'm firking serious

My favorite pub when I studied in London - the Flintlock and Firkin.
Then I went to three Firkins in Paris (and got a special tee - plus
they spoke English and served beer other than 1664). Then, a Firkin in
Alice Springs, Australia. Now, a Firkin right here in Chicago!!

Homophobia

We really like the Unofficial Cubs shirt with the four Cubs logos
instead of the stars on the Chicago city flag. However, the same
"merchant" (read trademark infringer / criminal) also had a selection
of homophobic shirts like these. Too bad, I would like the cute non-
offensive shirt but I will not buy it from them.

Cubbies!

This nice man let me take his picture at the Cubs game this afternoon.
Turns out his father bought him this hat when he was a kid and brought
it to the game today. It rocks. So does the Oberon shirt.

'nough said

Drunk and (in)famous

Bottom of the 8th, Cubs up 11-5. This dude has been annoying all game
long; he stood up and blocked the view, drank a bunch of beers, flexed
his flab, and screamed random obscenities. I snapped this picture
right before he ran down the aisle all the way to the field, chickened
out and then turned around to come back to his seat. Too late! The
ushers got him and escorted him out of the stadium. Or arrested him.
Who cares. We all cheered.

Before

This doesn't look like much? A helmet of nachos? No problem.

After

Holy cow! We couldn't tell when we got them, but they layer the chili
and cheese all the way down. This helmet of nachos weighs about 8
pounds, still. We did our best and left the rest. Where are the Brits
when you need them?

Never cute

A rat tail is just never cute and never a good idea. And they have two.

Lunch

Beautiful

I posted a picture of this same flower bed a few weeks ago, but the
flowers have opened up since then. I didn't think it was possible for
the flower bed to look more beautiful, but it does! And it smells
wonderful!

Useful instructions

Every once in a while, I open the wrong end. It's not a good move, but
it's not as bad as when I open the socket set upside down, despite the
clear "other side up" warning.

This guy will sell anything

I don't like Lance and I don't like this "beer."

Two goals

One step closer to the cup! Go Hawks!

Inappropriate

This just seems wrong on a t-shirt for little kids. I think it's wrong
on mudflaps, too, but this seems even worse.

It doesn't look like much

But it tasted fantastic! Homemade marinara sauce with goat cheese
baked in the oven. Yummy. Silver cloud, you got nuthin' on me.

Fridge magnets

Fridge magnets for smart folks. Inde would love to steal these off the
fridge. She is smarter than the magnets. And me. She'd probably end up
with another outrageous vet bill. I think I'll skip the fun magnets.

A close relative to quad art

This is food art. And napkin art. Happy birthday, DV! Nice food art, DD.

P.S. I think you could have fit behind the pole.

These boots

Were not made for walkin'! They were made for dancing! Leave it to a
gay country bar to have disco boots. Who am I kidding? I like 'em!

A little bit of Philly

Fitting that Andersonville should have a little bit of Philly. I still
miss Philly, but Chicago is growing on me.

Think about this next time you go for a swim

I think those teeth are longer than mine! I didn't stop to read the
article, so I don't know where these fish are swimming, but we should
all be careful!

Guard?

Not much need be said here: guarding what, my ankles? Ridiculous.

Funny wine

On a recent tour of wholefoods with my British friends, I saw this
wine. It reminds me of their war cry, whoop whoop!

Stone Old Guardian

Says it's white (on the tap), but it doesn't taste white! It is sorta
hoppy and more like an amber.

A proper English dinner

Our British guests got stuck in America because of the volcanic ash.
They made a proper British dinner for us - chicken stuffed with
mozzarella and cous cous. It was all very yummy.

Origami

I've been told this is an origami duck. Don't quit your day job, LJ.

Beer can coozy

This is an awesome beer coozy, except the Cubs logo is upside down.
Or, maybe they think that if you are a Cubs fan, you probably spend
more time drinking than holding your beer so they put the logo on so
it can be read while you are drinking. Either way, it's pretty funny!

Spring at Wrigley

Wrigley Field on a beautiful 85 degree April day. Good thing the
weather was nice because the Cubs were bad. Same 'ol same 'ol. I'd
care more if I were not a diehard Phillies Phan!!

Inde

This is Inde. She is nine. Her tummy got sick this morning so she had
to go to the doggy ER. I miss her and want her to come home soon.

Lasagna!

Homemade lasagna - including the sauce! Cooked the sauce all day and
it smells great! Which is good because the dog has terrible gas.

Tulips

I love the tulips in the spring in Chicago. These are in the median on
LaSalle and they are okay. The tulips on Michigan, however, are
fantastic! If you have a chance, get out and take a look.

I'm a king!

I saw this cute little children's tent at the book sale and it
reminded me of two things: (1) a cover for our card table that my
mother made for me when I was young that I placed over the table to
play house - it had windows and a door - very cool; and (2) a tent
that Elizabethan royals would use for a meal whilst on progress. I
love me those Tudors!

Gym

I saw this ad for a gym today. Looks interesting.

Kids books are vicious

I stopped by a book fair during lunch and saw this friendly positive
book for sale - Sealed with a Diss. So nice.

Salt lick

There is nothing a late night stop at McDonald's won't cure. And these
fries were just the way I like them - coated in salt.

Freaky oil man

Somewhere along Western Avenue you'll find this nice oil man. I think
someone is holding him up from behind. He is very retro.

I like art

Especially when she is a Greek goddess in a sheer wrap.

Sushi

I've never seen so much sushi on one plate. Although I didn't try any,
I understand it was all good. The caterpillar was the best, or so I
hear. There is something wrong with eating raw fish and naming it
after a bug.

Please ignore the sign

Feel free to skinny dip any time, especially if you're hot. Man, I'm
punny.

I knew it!

And, Virginia, there is a Santa Claus.

Spring

I saw this blossom on the tree on my way to the bus stop. I think
spring is definitely here now. I'm looking forward to running in
shorts and a t-shirt for the next few months!

License to IL

This is not a great picture, but the bar was dark and the subject,
although attempting to cooperate, was a little impaired. Anyway, he
had on this great t-shirt. If I didn't already have about 100 t-
shirts, I might try to find it on the Internet. Instead, I'll just
enjoy the picture.

Impressive light fixture

After a fun dinner on Division Street, we were getting ready to head
out when someone in our party noticed the light fixture that was
hanging over our table. It's pretty cool - uses wine glasses and
silverware. And the food and company were great, too!

These are a few of my favorite things

I really wanted to write something witty to the tune of these are a
few of my favorite things like in the sound of music. But, alas, I'm
not creative enough.

That must have been one monster dunk

This gives new meaning to bringing down the house. Just outside the
cta stop, I found this basketball hoop. Hmmm ... How does this get
here? My theory, a bunch of drunk guys stole it from a side alley and
then realized that it was not practical to try to get it on the train.
Anyone else want to take a shot?

Phallus

Look, kids, Parliament, Big Ben! Thanks to some overseas guests, I now
have this growing Phallus on the counter. I love it. And, it can grow
and shrink many times over.

Did you know that Big Ben is not the name of the tower but the name of
the bell, like our Liberty Bell, except it's not cracked. And I
haven't touched it.

Margie's!

The first trip of the year to Margie's!! I love the hot fudge sauce in
the little boat!! Too much excitement with the exclamation points?

Bathroom

So, I went to pick up my friends at the airport and as I was looking
for the human rest room, I saw this sign. I wish I had taken inde so
she could have used the animal relief area.

Flower show at Macy's?

I went to Macy's looking for a new spring jacket and they were having
a spring flower show. I didn't get close enough to confirm, but I
think this was a full body paint suit. She was a little pouty and
unhappy, but I think I would be, too, if I were dressed like this and
people were following me around the store taking photos.

Blackhawks get cooking!

What a day for a hockey game! And we all got free aprons. Let's go
hawks!
