I am a Northeasterner who relocated to Chicago in 2009. In the fall, I took a short "self-discovery" trip, which was the inspiration for the blog. Next, I worked as a law clerk. Finally, in August 2010, I started a job with the state doing civil rights work. I plan to continue to blog, especially about my love of the northeast, my new love of Chicago and the things I see on my daily travels. - I am an attorney by day, but an aspiring photographer and wannabe brewer by night (and weekends). After 39 years in the northeast, I moved to the Midwest in 2009. I find myself missing the east coast in part because I find the Midwest to be geographically challenged. So, in between jobs, I decided to see what the Midwest had to offer, at least within an eight hour drive of Chicago. I intended to make this trip of self-discovery on my new motorcycle, but the poor weather thwarted my plans. I headed out in my car with my camera to find the Midwest and, hopefully, a little bit of myself. After I returned, I volunteered as a law clerk for about 4 months, then spent a painful 2 1/2 months unemployed. I then went back to my volunteer position, but as a paid clerk, while I continued to look for a position doing civil rights work. In August 2010, I started at a new position working for the state doing civil rights work. I have taken a few photography classes and my job at the state allows me to have to time to enjoy this new hobby. I have also been able to do a fair amount of running and have recently gotten back into playing tennis. I guess Chicago has been pretty good.

ReplyDeleteOk, rs, I do have more than 3 readers, or at least I think I do, so, the polls are still open. And I have yet to see a convincing reason for "over." Anyone vote "under"? Or have a valid reason to vote "over"?
ReplyDeleteOver or under... doesn't matter - as long as it's ALWAYS THE SAME. When you get up in the middle of the night to pee, you want to be able to spin the roll and have the paper come off how you expect it to. That way you don't have to fully wake up to process what's going on and can go back to sleep easier.
ReplyDeleteFunny fact: Did you know that your mother is an obsessive OVER person? I am an under person. When I worked for/lived with your sister, your mom would come to visit and would always change the direction of the roll in my bathroom (aka the guest bathroom). So I would change it back. Then she would change it, etc. It was the silent War of the Roll for the entire time she'd visit.
LOL Charlotte! I didn't know that about East Coaster's mom! Guess that's because the roll is always OVER in our house. I'm with you on the consistency. I guess I could go under...
