Stupid CTA map

I was riding the blue line home from my fun day when I decided to
actually look at the map. What is wrong with this picture? If you
are not from Chicago, you might not know. Most maps depict the
streets / landmarks with north at the top of the page and east on the
right side. Not so with this map. Van Buren and Lake run east west,
but are shown running from the top of the page to the bottom. Wabash
and Wells run north / south, but are shown in the traditional east to
west direction. Maybe CTA is trying to confuse visitors. Or, maybe the
map didn't fit well when in the other orientation. My suggestion, make
both maps a little smaller or add a legend that shows the proper
compass directions.

  1. The map to the left (map of the entire line) does the 'N' orientation; how difficult can it be to add that to the zoomed-in Loop section also. -rs

  2. Also, the "loop" is really a rectangle. And does anybody know what the "circle" is?? 18 months later and still trying to figure that one out...

  3. The circle is Congress. 290 if you're on 90/94.

  4. It is where 90/94/290 meet. The "circle interchange" has it's own wiki entry. -rs
