Historic route 66

Not a whole lot of self-discovery going on yet. I guess maybe I should
have planned some type of retreat or hike instead of a road trip. Oh
well, it's too late to turn back.

Instead, I'll settle for a little historical discovery. This lovely
rest area is located on the spot where the original route 66 crossed
through Illinois. And now that is marked by this little post. I bet
Steinbeck is turning in his grave.

My drive today has only confirmed what I feared to be true -Illinois
is big, flat and boring. I will try not to let my posts be the same.

  1. We loved driving on parts of old Route 66 in Arizona. Lots of fun diners and quirky things. That's where we slept in the wigwam!
